Another good win

(Valiant and Toni Direen)

Tristram's Sun, a son of Yamanin Vital, won the $A103,500 Kyneton Cup (2000m)  on Wednesday. Yamanin Vital, the deceased White Robe Lodge stallion is also the sire of Who Shot Thebarman, who ran third in the Melbourne Cup the previous day.

Tristram's Sun is one of two foals left by Second Edition, an unraced Desert Sun mare.

The WR -trained Valiant continued his preparation for the Stewards' Handicap at Riccarton next Wednesday with a dashing barrier trial win at Wingatui  today (6/11/2014). Valiant led over 1000m on the course proper and came away to win by nine lengths in 60.25, the last 600m in 36.22, smart times on a slow track. "We put blinkers on him to smarten him up and he was also wearing a tongue tie,'' said trainer Brian Anderton. Toni Direen, his race rider, was also aboard Valiant, who has won his last two starts in the hands of another stable apprentice, Jacob Lowry. Breathe Easy, Gallant Ruby and a Raise The Flag - Alight 3yr-old were other heat winners yesterday. Breathe Easy ran 1000m in 1.02.72.
