Leaders for 21 years straight

Brian and Shane Anderton of White Robe Lodge, are the leading Wingatui trainers for the 21st year in a row.  The father and son amassed 29 wins for $385,645 in stakes for the season that ended on July 31, 2014.  The stable had notable success with Include in the Dunedin and Southland Guineas.  Brian Anderton has figured as the leading Wingatui trainer 37 times, the first in the 1971-72 season with 20 wins.  He trained originally in a sole capacity and had Graeme Offen as a partner  in four seasons from 1982-83.  He was joined by Shane in the 1993-94 season.  Brian and Shane shared the leading Wingatui trainer honour in the 2004-05 season with Hec and Steve Anderton.  Both stables had 25 wins.  WR apprentice Courtney Barnes was the leading Wingatui apprentice with 33 wins. Toni Direen, another WR apprentice, rode 21  winners and stable jockey Shankar Muniandy had 16 wins for the season.
