New Years Jay making mark

The ability of White Robe Lodge to produce winners is not confined to thoroughbreds. The latest flag bearer is the standardbred pacer, New Years Jay, winner of the $11,000 final of the Young at Heart series on 5/9/2014 at Addington,  the premier harness track. It was her fourth win in as many starts since she resumed racing mid-July from a two year lay-off with filling in a leg.   WR principal and co-breeder, Brian Anderton gave New Years Jay every chance to recover then sent her to  be beach trained at Westwood by Amber Hoffman and Jonny Cox. Brian races the 7yr-old daughter of Washington VC - Jay's Glen with the estate of Bryan Kennedy. New Years Jay has actually been first past the post in her five races, but she was disqualified in the first. She won two heats of the Young at Heart series at Addington, the second in a smart 1.57.6 mile rate for 1950m (mobile). New Years Jay is back in the paddock at WR this week for a rest. She will do some preliminary work there before resuming her spring campaign.  Jay's Glen has now left four winners from five foals to race, the others being Apache Jay, Bronze Jay and Courageous Jay. She is also the dam of Mousey Jay (a 4yr-old mare by Klondike Kid) and Delightful Jay (a 2yr-old filly by Bettor's Delight).
