Akal to the fore..

The White Robe-trained Akal continued his winning form at barrier trials at Wingatui on Tuesday (16/09/2014). The unraced Gallant Guru - Megagem 4yr-old won a 1000m heat in 1.05.84 on  a slow inside grass after being prominent throughout.

Gallant Boy, a Gallant Guru - Mega  Babe 4yr-old in the stable,  won an 800m heat in 51.83 after leading. He had a second from three starts last season.

Swiss Alps, an impressive winner for the stable at Oamaru in June in his lone start as a 2yr-old, had a tune up outing in the 800m open heat. He has been nominated for the Two Thousand Guineas at Riccarton in November. Swiss Alps had a six week spell, then three weeks jogging with his part-owner, Ian Nichol at Clarks Junction before rejoining the stable.

Who Shot Thebarman (Yamanin Vital - Ears Carol), now trained at Rosehill by Chris Waller, won a $100,000  2000m race at Flemington on Saturday. The 2014 Auckland  and Avondale Cup winner, bred by Brian and Lorraine Anderton, has been entered for the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups.
