Pat Smith rewarded

Pat Smith, the Christchurch breeder, has been rewarded for sending his mare, Mega Babe to White Robe Lodge stallions. She left her fourth winner from as many foals to race when Gallant Boy cleared maiden ranks at Wingatui on Saturday (27/09/2014).  A strapping 4yr-old gelding, Gallant Boy is by Gallant Guru from Mega Babe,who has also left the winners, Beijing Boy (by Yamanin Vital) Tunza Vitality (by Yamanin Vital) and  Gallant Babe (by Gallant Guru). Mega Babe, who died last year, is by Personal Escort. Her last foal is a filly by Raise The Flag, now two. Gallant Boy is in the White Robe stable, where Tunza Vitality and Gallant Babe have resided.   The Raise The Flag filly and a 3yr-old brother to Gallant Boy are also in work with the stable.

WR was to the fore in the Otago racing awards for the season ending July 31 at a function on Saturday night. The stud and training establishment took the awards for 3yr-old: Include; jumper, High Forty; rider: apprentice Courtney Barnes; leading trainer, Brian and Shane Anderton and breeder: Brian and Lorraine Anderton (Who  Shot The Barman).
