Danzighill Dead

Danzighill, the sire of grand stayer, Blood Brotha, was put down recently at the age of 21.

"He became infertile,'' said Brian Anderton, who stood the son of Danehill at White Robe Lodge.

Blood Brotha (ex Laura Dee), who was bred at White Robe, won the New Zealand Cup in 2011 and 12 and the 2013 Wellington Cup. He ran fourth in a Sydney Cup.

Danzighill was also the sire of Royal Flight (listed Easter Handicap at Riccarton), Wealthy Man (10 wins in Macau), Danz A Rook (nine), Belle D'Or (seven) and El Bee Dee (11).

Danzighill had the very creditable statistics of 60 individual winners from 93 runners. He left a colt out of Taieri Rose and fillies out of Maghada and Oaktree from his final crop of foals in the spring of 2014.

Danzighill raced from two until seven years old in Hong Kong where he won each season, amassing nine wins and $HK9 million.
