Great weekend

It was a notable weekend for White Robe Lodge with the stud stallion, Raise The Flag siring Unfurl who won an $80,000 race at Caulfield and High Forty winning the $20,000 Great Western Steeplechase at Riverton. Unfurl (ex Emerald Fire) and High Forty (Danzighill- Rubiette) were both bred by Brian and Lorraine Anderton, who race High Forty with Terry Burke, of Tamworth. Unfurl won the Herald Sun Three-Year-Old Plate over 2000m, her second win in six starts.   Her next assignment is the $500,000 Queensland Oaks (2400m) on May 30. She has been placed in her other four starts. A $40,000 purchase as a 2yr-old at the 2013 NZ Bloodstock South Island Sale by John Foote Bloodstock, she is trained at Ballarat by Darren Weir, who has made subsequent purchases of the progeny of Raise The Flag. High Forty was the sixth GW win for trainer Brian Anderton, who landed the time honoured race with Lord Venture (1986, 87 and 89), One Chance (1999) and Variable (2004). Shane Anderton, the co-trainer of High Forty, won the race as a jockey on Lord Venture (1989), The Butcher (1992) and One Chance. Brian and Lorraine bred and raced Lord Venture with the late Dave Bedford and raced Variable with Mr and Mrs Barry and Deidre  Neville -White.
