Yogi first up in Australia

Raise The Flag 4yr-old Yogi won first up in Australia at Benalla (Victoria) on Monday (24/10/16). Yogi, now trained by Darren Weir at Ballarat, won a maiden race over 1406m. Yogi was first past the post in a 1600m maiden at Riccarton in February at his previous start when trained at Washdyke by Mel and Warwick Coles.  Yogi was sold to Australian interests. Warwick had bought Yogi for $1000 at the 2014 South Island sale. Yogi, bred by D G and H A Voice, Christchurch, is out of Malozza, by Grand Lodge.

Londonderry Air, another son of Raise The Flag, made it two wins from two starts since joining the White Robe Lodge stable with a bold finishing effort over 1400m at Oamaru on Monday. Somethings Burning (by Gallant Guru) posted his seventh win at the same meeting when he mastered 59.5kg in a rating 85 1200m. Who Shot Thebarman (Yamanin Vital - Ears Carol)  added to his  fine record with a second to stablemate Grand Marshal in the Moonee Valley Gold Cup on Saturday.
