WRL delivers home town win for owners

White Robe Lodge trainers Brian and Shane Anderton and stable jockey Shankar Muniandy delivered a home town win for Christchurch owners with Patrick Erin in a $22,500 rating 75 1600m on Saturday (21/1/2016). Patrick Erin had missed a race at Gore the previous week after a foot injury

"He was very lame and couldn't work for two days after he sprung a shoe,'' said Brian. It was the fourth win for Patrick Erin, a son of Gallant Guru and Mega Babe, who cleared maiden ranks in June for breeder Pat Smith, his wife, Janice, daughter Jackie, Graeme and Tony Handisides. The other wins have been at Wingatui, Waikouaiti and Ascot Park with Jacob Lowry the rider. Muniandy took the mount on Saturday with Lowry under suspension. Pat Smith won a maiden race at Riccarton at the 1993 New Zealand Cup meeting with Red Diamond, the grand-dam of Patrick Erin. The Faith Guest mare was trained there by Garth Jackson.
