61kg no trouble to Patrick Erin

Patrick Erin mastered 61kg with ease to win a $22,500 rating 75 handicap at Wingatui on Saturday (4/3/2017). The son of Gallant Guru - Mega Babe, ridden by Shankar Muniandy, settled three back on the inner and unleashed a powerful run in the straight to win by a length and a half. It was the fifth win for the son of Gallant Guru - Mega Babe, trained by Brian and Shane Anderton. Patrick Erin made the trip from Christchurch worthwhile for his part-owners, Pat and Janice Smith.

Princess Brook, the Raise The Flag mare, won the $30,000 White Robe Lodge Open Handicap (1600m). Trained at Wingatui by Terry Kennedy, she has now won eight races and $124,315 in stakes for owner-breeder Fred King, who had his birthday on Saturday.

Garry Sherratt, of Otane (Hawke's Bay) has won a service to a White Robe Lodge stallion of his choice for next breeding season. His name was drawn from among breeders who sent mares to the three WRL stallions Ghibellines, Raise The Flag and Gallant Guru this season. Mr Sherratt had the mares Potheen and Short Of Cents at WRL. Potheen was mated with Raise The Flag after foaling a filly by Niagara. Short Of Cents foaled a filly by Gallant Guru and she was served by Ghibellines.
