Flemington Quinella for Raise The Flag

Raise The Flag continued his run of success as a sire in Australia when Yogi and Chequered Flag finished first and second in the $A120,000 Oliver St Plate (2500m) at Flemington on Saturday (5/8/2017). Yogi stormed home from back in the field to win by a head from his stablemate after the pair went stride for stride in the last 100m. Both horses are trained by Darren Weir.

It was the fifth win in 10 starts for Yogi (ex Malozza) since he began racing from the Weir stable in October. Chequered Flag had won his previous two starts.

Yogi had previously won up to 1800m at Sandown.

"Raise The Flag's progeny are really starting to put their hands up in the right places. They are bred to stay and it's very pleasing to see them do just that,'' said Karen Stewart, co-manager of the White Robe Lodge stud operation.

Ubin Thunderstruck (two from his last three starts) and Golden Flag are other winners by Raise The Flag in Australia while Londonderry Air and Southern Aurora have won in New Zealand in the last month.
