(Heberite (Jake Lowry), inner works out at White Robe Lodge with Rachel Baker (Chanelle Huggins))

Heberite has been assigned the listed $50,000 Liquorland Gore Guineas (1335m) on January 20 by trainers Brian and Shane Anderton after winning his second start at Omakau on January 5.

Heberite is by Raise The Flag, the sire of Raise You Ten, winner of the Gore Guineas 12 months ago for the White Robe Lodge stable. Heberite is the fourth winner from as many foals left by Arurite, who won five races to 1600m. Arurite has also left My Cup of Tea, Aruriteson and Arite Guru for Auckland breeder John Williams. My Cup Of Tea (by Mr Nancho) won 12 races in Macau. Aruriteson(by Yamanin Vital) won over 2400m at Randwick and three flat races and a hurdle in the Auckland area. Arite Guru (by Gallant Guru) has won two races when trained by Williams.

Arurite is by Rua Rukuna, winner of the 1991 $670,000 Magic Millions as a 2yr-old at Trentham. Rua Rukuna (by Straight Strike) also won the group three Sovereign Lodge Stakes on the same track at the same age.

Heberite is raced by Ian and Sue Nichol and Ray and Allison Kean. They bought him out of the paddock as a yearling on the advice of WRL stud manager Karen Stewart. Ian has raced numerous winners from the WRL stable among them Tommy Tucker, All Chance and One Chance. Ray and Ian are in the ownership of Londonderry Air.

Gallant Guru was represented by the winners Ruby Guru (over 1875m at Toowoomba on Saturday) and Milk It(1100m at Omoto on Sunday). It was the fifth win by Milk It (ex Zillian), trained at Riccarton by Aaron Taylor. Ruby Guru (ex On The Make), who was originally passed in at the 2015 South Island sale, has now won three races. She is trained at Toowoomba by Michael Nolan.

Patrick Erin has been allotted 59kg in the $250,000 Wellington Cup (3200m) at Trentham on January 20. He is second in the handicap behind Chance To Dance (60kg). Patrick Erin carried 60kg to an impressive win over 2200m at Wingatui on Boxing Day.
