Markwood Lodge Ltd win service to WRL sire

Markwood Lodge Ltd won a service to a White Lobe Lodge sire in a draw among stud clients at the Wingatui meeting on Saturday.

Raise The Flag, Ghibellines and Gallant Guru are sires in service at WRL.

Markwood Lodge, a Waikato company, had the mares Ginella (O'Reilly - Abrasion) and Hilarious (Raise The Flag - Comedy Mill) served by Ghibellines this season. Hilarious had the third of her three wins when trained at WRL. Markwood Ltd race  the WRL -trained Zabay, winner of three races and a good third on Saturday.

The WRL -trained Larippa, a 3yr-old filly, cleared maiden ranks at Wingatui on Saturday. She is raced by long-time owner Graeme McKenzie and his sons, Grant and Brent with their wives, Philippa and Moana. The McKenzies also race Cabernet, a winner from the WRL stable. Cabernet finished second Saturday. Larippa is by Rip Van Winkle from Larrinka, a half sister by Volksraad to Miss Aurora(by O'Reilly), the dam of Cabernet. A half brother, The Meista won the 2010 Canterbury Gold Cup for the McKenzies. Larrinka, Miss Aurora and The Meista are among 11 foals left by Zablinka (Zabeel - Perchinka)), winner of the 1997 group three Wakefield Stakes at Trentham as a 2yr-old for the McKenzies.

Ruby Guru (Gallant Guru -On The Make) posted her seventh win when successful over 1300m at Toowoomba on Saturday.
