Impeccably-bred Son Of Sadler's Wells Added To Stallion Ranks

White Robe Lodge, in association with Juddmonte Farms, is pleased to announce that Raise The Flag (Sadler’s Wells x Hasili, by Kahyasi) will stand his first breeding season at the Mosgiel-based stud in 2010.
Bred in the purple, Raise the Flag is out of the 2006 US Broodmare of the Year Hasili, dam of no less than five Group 1 winners including Group 1 Breeder’s Cup winning full-sisters Banks Hill (Danehill) and Intercontinental (Danehill).
The “Eight Carat” of the Northern Hemisphere, Hasili has also left a Champion Sire in her Group 2 winning son Dansili (Danehill). As the Champion sire in France in 2006, Dansili has proven a great success in Europe where he has finished amongst the top 10 stallions (combined earnings) over the past four years (2006-2009), most impressive considering that only Sadler’s Wells, Pivotal, Danehill Dancer, Montjeu, and Galileo could match this feat.
Raise the Flag, a half-brother to Dansili, is by Champion European sire Sadler’s Wells who has made a large impression in Australasia recently through the deeds of his sons at stud.
As a grand-sire over the past couple of seasons in Australasia Sadler’s Wells has provided Group 1 Cox Plate winner So You Think (High Chaparral), Group 1 Melbourne Cup and Caulfield Cup winner Viewed (Scenic), Group 1 Newmarket Handicap and Lightning Stakes winner Scenic Blast (Scenic), Group 1 Mudgway Partsworld Stakes winner Tavistock (Montjeu), Group 1 VRC Derby winner Monaco Consul (High Chaparral), Group 1 2009 AJC Derby winner Roman Emperor (Montjeu), Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes and Doomben Cup winner Scenic Shot (Scenic), Group 1 Metropolitan Handicap winner Speed Gifted (Montjeu) Group 1 New Zealand Derby winner Coniston Bluebird (Scenic), and Group 1 2008 AJC Derby winner Nom Du Jeu (Montjeu).
White Robe Lodge’s Brian Anderton says his family operation will ensure Raise the Flag gets every chance to follow in the successful footsteps of High Chaparral, Scenic, and Montjeu by supporting him with their own extensive broodmare band over the next few seasons.
Raise the Flag fits the same mould as Noble Bijou and Mellay who both earned numerous Champion Sire titles with us”, Anderton commented.
Raise the Flag, Noble Bijou and Mellay all hail from wonderful taproot families and each suffered race career ending injuries before adding to their families’ feats.
“In Raise the Flag’s case he suffered an unfortunate injury at his only start at Longchamp in the care of Andre Fabre, but he was held in high regard and we know the genetics are all there to be passed on.”
Fortunately White Robe Lodge where able to make the most of the opportunity through a deal facilitated by Matamata-based international bloodstock consultant Ric Wylie.
“I was asked by Teddy Grimthorpe from Juddmonte to find a good home for Raise the Flag where he would receive every chance to prove successful at Stud”, Wylie confirmed.
“I approached White Robe Lodge immediately as they are well known for supporting their stallions from conception right through to producing fit and ready to win athletes on the racetrack.”
“We are excited to have completed a deal which will see the handsomely bred Raise the Flag stand in New Zealand from 2010”.
Prince Khalid Abdullah’s Juddmonte Farms have bred and raced thoroughbreds successfully in the Europe and the United States since the late 1970’s. A winner of six US Eclipse Awards as the leading breeder and owner, Juddmonte has also collected the past two TBA Queen’s Silver Salvers in England as the leading leading British-based breeder.
On the arrival of Raise the Flag to New Zealand shores Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager for Juddmonte, said:

"Juddmonte is delighted that Brian Anderton’s White Robe Lodge Stud have agreed to stand Raise the Flag, a son of the world’s greatest living broodmare Hasili.

“The reputation of White Robe Lodge Stud in not only making top class stallions, but also raising top class racehorses, was a major factor in the decision to send Raise the Flag to New Zealand. His half brother Dansili is one of the prominent stallions in Europe and Juddmonte will also stand his triple Group One winning brother Champs Elysees this Northern Hemisphere season at Banstead Manor Stud near Newmarket."

Raise the Flag will stand at a fee of $4000 +GST and will be available for inspection from mid-February.

At White Robe Lodge Raise the Flag will stand alongside Group 2 Sandown Classic winner Gallant Guru (Montjeu) whose first yearlings will be offered at Karaka 2010 this February. Raise the Flag will be available for inspection at White Robe Lodge from mid-February. For further enquiry contact Brian Anderton on 027 434 2299 or Stud Manager Wayne Stewart on 027 498 8037.
