Inferno Wins Canterbury Gold Cup

Inferno (5YO mare Yamanin Vital - Emerald Fire by Honor Grades ), bred and raced by Brian and Lorraine Anderton impressively won the Gp 3 Canterbury Gold Cup on Saturday at Riccarton Park.

The mare had been Group And Stakes-placed on numerous occasions, but scored her first Group win in style, coming from last to win decisively, She was ridden by stable apprentice Shankar Muniandy, giving him his biggest career win.

Inferno was rated the South Island's best 3YO of her year and has been a most consistent racemare this season winning the Kurow Cup and Clare Cup at Omakau.

She has been the subject of some large offers, but at this stage is likely to eventually join the White Robe Lodge broodmare band.
