Irish Derby Result Further Boost For Gallant Guru

The win by Frozen Fire, a son of Montjeu, in the Irish Derby was a further boost for White Robe Lodge Stud and their young sire, Gallant Guru.

For the second time this year a major international Derby result has had a significant impact for the Stud and the prospects for their promising stallion.

Not surprisingly, White Robe Lodge Stud staff are awaiting with anticipation the arrival of the first Gallant Guru foals this Spring.

Frozen Fire, trained by master-horseman Aidan O'Brien, is out of a mare by Woodman, who is a three-quarter blood brother to Personal Escort. The stud have a large number of his daughters in foal to Gallant Guru and the Derby result proves the blending of these bllodlines can produce a superior racehorse.

The AJC Derby win by Nom Du Jeu was widely acclaimed at White Robe Lodge Stud as he is also a son of Montleu from a grand-daughter of Noble Bijou from one of their original families.

One of the Personal Escort mares in foal to Gallant Guru is the home-bred Group-winner Perceptible. She made an auspicious start to her breeding career when her first foal, Fortune Spirit, by Danzighill, won at his raceday debut at Riccarton last week. He had shown real ability at his trial outings and this was confirmed with an impressive victory.

The Irish Derby result continued the outstanding form of the progeny of Montjeu in both Hemispheres in recent weeks. His son Macarthur took out the G2 Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot, Montmartre the G3 Prix du Lys at Longchamp, while Ballack scored in the G3 Tattersalls Cup in Queensland.
