Royal Flight Looks To Be A Rising Star
The Danzighill mare Royal Flight is the rising star of South Island racing after completing her third consecutive win from just four starts at Oamaru recently.
She is highly-rated by co-trainer Brian Anderton, who believes long-term she has a very exciting future as a stayer. "She is a lovely big mare who is currently doing everythng on natural ability" he enthused.
Bred by White Robe Lodge Studmaster, Wayne Stewart and his wife Karen, and raced by them together with the Lucky 8 Syndicate, Royal Flight is out of the Noble Bijou mare, Capital Flight. She is therefore a half-sister to their talented gallloper Flight Captain, who won five races and was group-placed in NZ before being sold to Perth.
Another half-sister Yummy, by Yamanin Vital, was a winner in Brisbane this season and recently ran in the Queensland Guineas.
Royal Flight is likely to only have a handful more starts in this preparation before being put aside to develop further. She is likely to run at Ashburton in July, before being aimed at Premier races at Riccarton's Grand National Carnival.
