Supreme Sydney Staying Sire
Yamanin Vital, the ill-fated White Robe Lodge stallion, is the supreme staying sire in Sydney this autumn with the performances of his sons Herculian Prince and Beijing Boy. Together they have raced nine times for a total of eight wins, with each horse being most impressive in scoring four staying victories.
Herculian Prince (ex Sea Island by Woodman) has won his last two at black-type level and is very highly regarded by his trainer, Gai Waterhouse. Beijing Boy (ex Mega Babe by Personal Escort) joined the Chris Waller stable in February this year and should probably have a perfect record from his five starts since, being unlucky at Canterbury in April.
Interestingly, the two horses are out of mares by the close genetic relations in Woodman and Personal Escort.
Unfortunately Yamanin Vital had to be put down in early Spring last year, but he has good crops of weanlings and yearlings being prepared for Sales. With strong demand for staying-bred horses coming from throughout Australia, Sydney trainers in particular will no doubt be keeping a close eye on his progeny.
