Ghibellines yearlings average $80,000

Three lots from the first crop of White Robe Lodge sire Ghibellines averaged $80,000 in Book 1 at the Karaka yearling sale.

The average emphasised the great value of Ghibellines at a service fee of $5000.

Three lots by Ghibellines were offered and sold by WRL in Book 1. The top priced lot was a colt out of Ears Carol sold for $115,000.

The colt on account of Brian and Lorraine Anderton is a half brother to the accomplished stayer Who Shot Thebarman. The colt was bought by Wylie Dalziel Racing and Peter Moody, the former Victoria trainer. Moody trained Black Caviar, who was unbeaten in her 25 races, including 15 at group one level.She amassed close to $8 million in prize money.

"We are very pleased with the sale, especially the Ears Carol colt considering he was a late November foal," said Wayne Stewart, the WRL stud manager.

Ghibellines (by Shamardal) won the gr two Todman Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill as a 2yr-old and placed at gr one and two level in eight starts.

A filly by Ghibellines out of Notable offered by Brian and Hec Anderton was sold for $72,500 to Yarrawonga Racing, Auckland. The filly is a half sister to Parthesia, winner of the Tasmanian Oaks and listed Bagot Handicap at Flemington.

A colt by Ghibellines out of the dual Canterbury Gold Cup winner Inferno offered by Brian and Lorraine was sold for $52,500. The buyer was Victoria trainer Darren Weir, who has Parthesia.

Wayne and Karen Stewart sold a filly by leading sire Savabeel and the first foal of the multiple listed race winner, Include for $230,000. The buyer was Paul Moroney Bloodstock, of Victoria.

Savabeel now has a service fee of $100,000.
