Heroic Guru wins again in Hong Kong

Heroic Guru (Gallant Guru - Enzed) had his second win in Hong Kong on Saturday (19/12/15) in a $1,165,000 ($NZ223,000) 1400m race at Sha Tin. Heroic Guru was bred at White Robe Lodge and sold to HK after winning two of his three starts.

Raise The Flag mare Princess Brook confirmed her staying potential when she won the Tapanui Cup at Gore  on Sunday  at her first start over 2000m. Princess Brook, trained at Wingatui by Terry Kennedy and raced by breeder Fred King, a loyal supporter of White Robe, has now won four races. Lesley Brook, the dam of Princess Brook, is the dam of a yearling colt by Raise The Flag,  the sire of Blue Flag, a winner over 2100m at Te Rapa this month from the Cambridge stable of Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman. Blue Flag (ex Vital Note) is raced by Mildred Bayly, the widow of Phil Bayly, who died this year. Blue Flag won a $30,000 1600m maiden race at Ellerslie in March when raced by Phil, but Mildred selected her in the paddock as a foal when she was running with her dam, Vital Note. Phil bought Jackfrost (Gallant Guru - Vital Note) as a yearling at the same time but passed him on after trying the gelding. Jackfrost has since won five races.

WR are not selling at the New Zealand Bloodstock National yearling sales at Karaka in January, but the stud has a lovely draft for the South Island session in April and young stock for sale on the property. Viewers are welcome. Contact stud managers Wayne and Karen Stewart.
