Coulee's win boost for yearling on offer

Coulee, the daughter of Gallant Guru and Cherry Creek, boosted the stocks of her half-sister to be offered at the South Island sale next month with a win in the $40,000 Francolin Stakes (1400m) for mares and fillies at Riverton on Saturday (26/3/2016). It was the fifth win for Coulee, the first foal of the stakes winner Cherry Creek. A filly by Raise The Flag from Cherry Creek will be offered by White Robe Lodge at the NZ Bloodstock SI Sale on April 17, along with four of the progeny of Gallant Guru. Raise The Flag, another resident sire, was represented by the winner, Hilarious at Tauranga on Saturday, Hilarious won a $20,000 race over 2100m. It was the second win for the 4yr-old mare trained at Byerly Park by Shaun Clotworthy for breeder Markwood Lodge Ltd. Hilarious is out of the Kingfisher Mill mare, Comedy Mill. Who Shot Thebarman (Yamanin Vital - Ears Carol) continues as a flag bearer for WRL. The 7yr-old collected $A260,000 when he  finished second, beaten a neck by stablemate Preferment in the  $1.6 million  weight-for-age group oneThe BMW (2400m) at Rosehill on Saturday.
