Malaysian stint....

Shankar Muniandy, the senior jockey for White Robe Lodge, will be riding in Malaysia for two months during the winter.

Muniandy is returning to his homeland for the stint after riding on Think Pink  raceday at Wingatui Sunday.

Muniandy came to New Zealand from Malaysia in 2006 and began riding work for Murray Hamilton at Omakau before taking an apprenticeship with WR co-trainer Brian Anderton six months later.

"I have been back to Malaysia on holiday since coming to New Zealand but I have not ridden there,'' said Muniandy.

He will stay with his parents in Penang.

Muniandy (27) has won 135 races. His best season was 2010-11 with 40 wins as an apprentice. He rode Inferno to win the group three Canterbury Gold Cup  in 2011 and 12 for WR Lodge. He rode the Yamanin Vital mare in her 10 wins.
