High Forty wins $20,000 steeple.....

The White Robe Lodge jumper High Forty  was back to his best with a win in the $20,000 open steeplechase at Washdyke today (13/06/2014). He settled off the pace and came right into contention at the second last fence before overhauling the pacemaker, The Sydney Express.

"I told his rider (Alan Browne) not to rush him and he jumped a bit big early,'' said trainer Shane Anderton. "We are heading to Riccarton but where we start next will depend on the tracks being reasonable.''

It was the second steeple win for High Forty, raced by Brian and Lorraine Anderton and Terry Burke, of Tamworth.  The Danzighill- Rubiette gelding had his other steeple win at Washdyke last winter.

Stablemate Harry Hill finished third over hurdles when making his debut as a jumper. Shane said he was pleased with the effort.
